Talking Cards — Privacy Policy

Who we are

Talking Cards is a communication app (a “talking picture board”) that helps children who find words hard — including children with speech delays, autism, or who are non-verbal — by speaking words aloud when a picture card is tapped. It is developed by Plapl.

Information we collect

None. Talking Cards does not collect, store off your device, or share any personal information from anyone, including children. Specifically, the app does not collect:

• names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any contact details;
• location data;
• usage analytics, advertising identifiers, or device identifiers;
• voice recordings or microphone input;
• any account or login information (there are no accounts).

The app works offline

Talking Cards runs entirely on your device. It has no internet permission and makes no network connections. Because nothing is sent anywhere, there is no server, no cloud storage, and no data transmission of any kind.

Photos on custom cards

A parent can optionally add a photo from the device to create a personal picture card. If you do:

• the photo is stored only in the app’s private storage on your device;
• it is never uploaded, shared, or transmitted anywhere;
• it is excluded from cloud backups and device-to-device transfer;
• it is permanently deleted from the device when you delete that card.

The app requests access to your photos only at the moment you choose to add one, using the system photo picker, and only for the photo you select.

Children’s privacy

Talking Cards is designed to be used by children and their families. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it complies with children’s privacy laws by design, including the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including its provisions for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children because we do not collect personal information at all.

No third parties

Talking Cards contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking tools, and no third-party software development kits (SDKs) that collect data. No information is shared with, or sold to, any third party — because none is collected.

Data security

Since no data leaves your device, there is nothing in transit to intercept. Any content you create (such as custom cards) is kept in the app’s private on-device storage.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Because the app’s privacy-respecting design is core to what Talking Cards is, we expect any changes to be minor.
